Explore Nanton
Nanton, Alberta
Small town charm.
Nanton is located right on Hwy 2 in southern Alberta; 40 minutes south of Calgary and 75 minutes north of Lethbridge. Watch for the three iconic grain elevators!
There is a small grocery store in Nanton and two coffee shops (Because I Said So and Georgie’s). Also good dinner places are the Nanton Golf Course and Wild Thyme, two independent burger places – Sweet Queen and target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”Zephyr. Roy’s Place in Claresholm is a good country restaurant. The Hive in both Nanton and Claresholm offer a selection of local artisans and crafts including produce from Paradise Hill (basil, tomato, potato, beans etc). The Dressing Up Store is a packed thrift shop.
Nearby day trips you may enjoy for inspiration: Leighton Art Centre, Black Diamond/Turner Valley or to Lethbridge (1.5 hours) has 3 terrific art galleries: SAAG, The Galt Museum, and CASA. Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump and Writing-On-Stone are also valuable Indigenous heritage sites. And of course, Vulcan is 20 minutes to the east on highway 533.
High River (20 minutes away) has larger grocery stores (Co-op) and more restaurants.
